I'm surprised this isn't being done. I went to school in a rural area and even we had the front doors locked after the start of classes. A person would have to be buzzed in by someone at the desk.

Why did Gothamist delete the original tweet? 🤔 Attached is a screenshot of my reply to the original tweet with the “Tweet deleted.” message. Hey On the Media, is deleting a tweet like this and reposting it again like this Kosher in the context of basic journalism? onthemedia

Look at what happened Uvalde: Side door left open and utterly no safety personnel on site. This doesn’t warrant doing something stupid like this. Locking it from the outside traps people inside. This is what you do: Make sure the on-site safety staff does their job. That’s it.

UFT Please shut this down. We are not going to be locked inside buildings. Know your NYC history- and workers’ rights.

They know that's illegal.

Sounds like a great plan.

No matter how you spin it, it’s still a dumb idea that doesn’t solve the problem. GunControlNow

Don’t all schools lock their doors (from the inside)?

Kids in NYC are in more danger from cars going to and from school than from guns in school. It would make them safer to lock the streets within two blocks of schools to cars during the school day…

What could possibly go wrong?

Students stage walkouts across U.S. to protest Texas school massacre“This could have been any of us,” a 17-year-old in Vermont said. How about we just keep kids home until they do something? Refuse to send kids to school until some change is made Everyone will get angry and cry about it. People will shout about guns. And tomorrow, more kids will die. Because it’s not just about access to guns. It’s children who are not taught to process their emotions, who are belittled for showing emotional vulnerability, who are taught students to manage?
