Customers will find fried chicken, gas and coffee but not wine and beer when the store opens.

A 7-Eleven in Cumberland County that was delayed for over a year as the developer struggled to obtain a liquor license is finally opening but without alcohol sales.

After months of trying to secure a liquor license, developer Highview Commercial in New Jersey said it has reached an agreement with 7-Eleven that allows the convenience store chain to open. Recently, Gunia said the two sides compromised. He said his company made a payment to 7-Eleven for the cost of a liquor license and it’s up to the chain to find a license. Refusing to share the amount Highview paid, Gunia said it was a significant number.

Gunia said his company spent $6 million developing the state-of-the-art 5,000-square-foot store. Another $3 million in partnership with Linlo Properties, the developer of Shepherdstown Crossing, he added, was spent on improvements to the intersection at Gettysburg Pike and South Market Street.
