The redesigned dining room includes new chairs, art and draperies. This is the table Plummer already had, but she restained it a darker color.Margaret Plummer was recently divorced and her kids were out of the house, so she wanted to create a new place for herself. She built a home in the Pomona subdivision in Manvel and bought new furniture that she thought she liked.
She moved into her new, 3,000-square-foot ranch-style home in June 2020, just as everyone was coping with the coronavirus pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement and a long cycle of political turmoil. Since March 2020, there have been manufacturing and shipping delays on many goods. The 2021 winter freeze that affected chemical plants that feed the industry that provides foam for seating and cushions complicated it even more. Davis said that some of that is easing up, though delays are still common for many things.
They contemplated getting a new dining table and even selected an option, but Plummer liked her rustic table and decided to stain it a darker color to blend better with the black chandelier. She did it herself with stain purchased at Home Depot. She laughs that the table is her sweat equity in the new main living space, and it saved her $1,500 because she didn't have to buy a new table.
