After another attack on an LGBTQ nightclub, a drag queen navigates the risks of her profession.

“It’s a scary thing to have to think about,” Electronika said, dusting on bronzer, “and it’s a scary thing that will weigh heavy on me.”One week earlier, five days before the Club Q attack, Electronika was patting on the same makeup — minus the Facebook Live chat. She’d just booked a new gig for Tuesday nights: Drag Bingo in a gay-owned diner in Nashville adorned with paintings from garage and estate sales.

Alize described herself as a “very proud” lesbian, but she’d struggled to overcome shyness before adopting a drag king persona. Performing in masculine attire lifted her confidence. Now she dresses as Lumiere, the singing candelabra from “Beauty and the Beast,” grooving to a hip-hop version of “Be Our Guest.”

The diners laughed. The bartender poured margaritas and Cosmopolitans. The kitchen was so busy, a cook who’d come to play bingo clocked in to help.

After record election year, some LGBTQ lawmakers face a new challenge: GOP majoritiesMontana state Rep.-elect Zooey Zephyr is the first openly trans woman elected to the state legislature. She and other lawmakers across the country are now faced with trying to curb anti-LGBTQ bills. 🤢🤮 No One Gives A Damn! How sad that this is the only thing that makes them news worthy.. Every once in awhile, I like to look at the replies to NPR articles, the POTUS account, ect, just to add to my block list a bit. It never fails that some of the worst accounts on this site will reply with their nasty-ass opinions, crying out to be pre-emptively blocked.

Same-sex marriage and LGBTQ protections at center of another Supreme Court caseA Colorado business owner who opposes same-sex marriage sued the state because she would like to accept customers planning opposite-sex weddings but reject requests made by same-sex couples. Her case has reached the Supreme Court. The part I don’t understand is NO ONE has approached her to do so. She’s just wanting to cause a scene and create drama. Private business so just like vax mandates, none of anyone’s business what she does. Good for her 👍🏽. Why would gays even want to go to her? It’s a win/win
