Author:Stephanie SaltzmanPublish date:Jul 9, 2019Updated onJul 9, 2019Model and activist Adwoa Aboah is undoubtedly one of the coolest people working in fashion today, not just because of her work fighting for mental health awareness for young girls as the founder of Gurls, but also because of her spot-on style choices, which usually toe the the line between on-trend fashion icon and not giving a f*ck.
On Monday, Aboah attended the premiere of "Spit Fire, Dream Higher," an aptly timed film about girls who play soccer made as part of a collaboration between Gurls Talk, Nike and filmmaker Felix Cooper. It aims to inspire young women to challenge gender norms and go after their goals via sports. On Instagram, the model described it as "a story of determination, following six girls from all corners of the world.
For the occasion, she chose a feathered, sparkly black dress from 16 Arlington's Fall 2019 collection. The strapless gown would have been a winner all on its own, but because Aboah is the coolest kid around , she paired the formal piece with black-and-white sneakers by the athleticwear brand. It was the perfect flex for the occasion, and if you don't want to immediately try wearing kicks with a formal dress after seeing it... well, we can't relate.
