Immigration advocates are pushing Democrats for a better deal in a bill heading for a vote for the millions of people living in the U.S. without legal immigration status.

Immigration activists rally near the White House on Oct. 7 calling for immigration reform and urging President Joe Biden to authorize a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. They face tough odds, but immigration advocates are pushing Democrats for a better deal in a bill heading for a vote for the millions of people living in the U.S. without legal immigration status.

Advocates want to restore a provision that was yanked, which would have created a mechanism for undocumented immigrants who were here before 2010 to get green cards. They face an uphill climb to restore it. It's not the first time undocumented immigrants have had to settle for less than they hoped for from Congress. Recently, in lieu of legislation, the administration has provided quasi-legal status to immigrants rather than any kind of legalization benefit.

"If you pass a 10-year parole, it means you want us to self-deport in 2031," said Dominguez, 27, who has been a U.S. resident since she was 7.

Mitch McConnell says the final version of the Democrats' 'Build Back Better' bill will be 'written by Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema''Manchin, to his credit, is talking about inflation and questioning, I think, whether this needs to be done at all. The single biggest favor he could do for the country would be to defeat the whole thing.' 'That would take a lot of courage, and we'll see' Yes, the best thing he could do for the country is make sure its citizens don't have basic social services available nearly everywhere else, while also ignoring climate change. Great call. Didn't seem to care about deficit or debt when all of their qweqqlthy friends got a huge tax break
