Advocates push Murphy, lawmakers to strengthen voting rights, make N.J. ‘most inclusive democracy’

Haywood said New Jersey needs its own Voting Rights Act to build “the most inclusive democracy” and prevent any backsliding.

Turner said it’s “shameful in this day and age that equal access to the ballot is still under attack in this country.” Some states — most notably Florida, Georgia, and Texas — have enacted laws to tighten voting restrictions in the two-plus years since the polarizing 2020 presidential election. Republicans who lead those states insist the goal is to reduce the risk of fraud in elections and ensure voting is secure and accessible., and these laws create more obstacles to vote and discriminate against voters of color.

“New Jersey can be fairer, and we can be better,” state Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, D-Mercer, a sponsor, said at the rally.Spokespeople for Murphy and Scutari did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

People of color aren't having their ballots counted? Where is that happening? And it sounds like 'automatic voter registration' means that people who are undocumented and here illegally will be able to vote.

So you have DMV, who requests tons and tons of identification to get a “real Id” driver license. Then there’s voting. “Just tell us your name”, ok, ur good! Here’s a ballot!

Hard left liberals have made inclusive a meaningless buzzword. It's now nothing more than a word used when no facts back up a progressive policy agenda. It's a worthless word. There's no one in NewJersey who was kept from voting because of current laws.

Translation: we want illegal aliens to vote without fear of reprisals because it's the only way Democrats can hold onto the seats they've bought, sold and stole from the legitimate, tax paying American citizens of NewJersey.

Who exactly is prohibited from voting?
