BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah — The body of a missing skier was discovered by search and rescue crews on Tuesday morning after hours of searching near the Solitude Mountain Resort.
The 37-year-old man, who officials said was a very advanced skier, was scheduled to return from the slopes by 2 p.m. Monday, but when the unidentified man failed to return, a search was initiated. According to the Unified Police Department, the man's body was found at 8:15 a.m. in a cluster of trees by Sensation ski run. No foul play is suspected and officials report he was wearing all the proper equipment at the time of the incident.Although the search was headquartered at Solitude's lodge, it was conducted in and near the resort as officials said they did not have a specific location where the skier may have been.
