In exchange for Huffman's guilty plea, prosecutors consented to recommend a sentence of 4 months imprisonment, a year of supervised release and a $20,000 fine.

Academy Award-nominated actress Felicity Huffman appeared in Boston federal court Monday and pleaded guilty to a charge stemming from the massive "Varsity Blues" college entrance scandal that ensnared dozens of parents nationwide who prosecutors say lied and bribed to get their children into elite schools.

The actress -- famous for her Academy Award-nominated role in the 2005 movie"Transamerica" and for playing one of the main characters in the ABC television show"Desperate Housewives" -- allegedly gave $15,000 to William"Rick" Singer, who prosecutors identified as the ringleader of the nationwide scam,"to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of their oldest daughter," court documents allege.

Crying in court, Huffman sought to clarify that a neuropsychologist who diagnosed her daughter with a learning disability had been seeing her since she was 8 years old and had nothing to do with the scheme. On March 13, federal prosecutors announced that 50 people, including 33 wealthy parents, were charged in the largest college cheating scam ever prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice.

I wonder how this plays out for the students who took the test same time with the students whose parents took the bribe. Does everyone have to retest, or whoever was next to score high on the test would be accepted in those colleges.

She paid $15 to get her kid into college... now $20k in fines. Should have required double that and the fine should be used as a grant for deserving students...

I feel so sorry for her. She’s paying enough!

Wondering what the reaction would've been had she been Latina or African-American.

only 4 months, so it is good to plead guilty asap

prosecutors!

Wow, $20,000, I hope she can afford it.

Rich Justice

I wonder how other college students feel about this. That is all she got?

I’d rather see her get no jail time and receive community service to help in an inner city boys and girls club or some cause to humble her. That would erase some entitlement.

My2centz_1 No worries. She will never actually spend a night in a prison cell. She’s a white rich women.

Lynette flexing that white privilege.🤣

At least she’s owning up to her crime and doing some form of punishment. Unlike Lori Loughlin that has chosen not to take responsibility for her actions.

Any kind of record now will restrict her travelling for work or pleasure

Like I said if it was me I would be doing that time for being black and another 400 months for the crime.

These kinds of crimes really aren't worth prison. Money teaches a better lesson.

Bigger fine.

~felicity Huffman~ —imagine—what will Lori Loughlin receive for probably a jury trial—Loughlin’s problem is that there is a ‘paper trail’ of lies—she and her mate cannot refute their submitted tax returns to the ‘irs’—

Smart women. Lori is making a big mistake fighting this!!

Don't think any of the accused should be convicted nor sentenced. Private and higher education is and has been for a long time corrupt and nothing will come of it. Especially, at the better schools and universities. Its the old saying, 'money talks and BS walks'.

A slap on the wrist. What a shame.

It's not long enough

Considering Brock turner served only 3 months for rape, I’ll take it.

Damn. She’ll serve her time quietly and come back from this. Americans love a good white woman redemption story.

She's done the wrong thing, absolutely. But f*ck me dead, if that was my child & I had no other choice, I'd prob do the same. A mother would do anything for their child. From a mum's perspective I can sympathize. ☹️

I'm surprised they're recommending ANY jail time. That's a win, IMO.

A year in jail!

This ‘slap of the wrist’ is quite a good deal for the rich and famous, no, unprincipled leftist?

Her career is over so I think considering other options she is gonna take it with a kiss on the ring. Actually she was smart enough to plead guilty. I wonder how they're going to treat Lori Loughlin on the other hand. She plead not guilty with a smile on her face...

What about that full house woman what is she going to get

SOUNDS LIKE A WINNER VS ?

Money talks.
