The lawsuit was filed in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and asks that the court strike down the ban on care before it goes into effect April 24.

The plaintiffs are asking the court to issue a temporary restraining order to stop HB 68 from taking effect and to declare the gender-affirming care ban unconstitutional. Gender-affirming care is supported by every major medical organization in the United States. Children’s hospitals across Ohio, the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association, and the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians all opposed HB 68.

“HB 68’s restrictions on medical care for the transgender youth community not only defy medical consensus and expert judgment but eliminates a parent or caregiver’s fundamental right to make critical, informed healthcare decisions for them.
