had to ration their stock of tea leaf salads to one order per table because they were running out of the actual tea leaves. Supply chain issues delayed the replenishment of its stock.
However, the eponymous ingredient, which is shipped directly from the mountains of Namhsan in Myanmar, also called Burma, experienced shipping and customs delays, specifically from December 2021 until now. Thankfully, those issues are a problem of the past, and the tea leaf salad is back, according to an email newsletter from the Burma Food Group, which owns Burma Superstar, sister restaurant Burma Love and the delivery-centered Burma Bites throughout the Bay Area.
The salad has been a mainstay on the menu since Burma Superstar opened in 1992. In 2018, it was named one ofIt’s safe to say fans of the national dish of Myanmar are excited for its full return — and so is the restaurant.
