Lowrie appeared as a pinch-hitter in Friday’s season-opener.

Oakland Athletics’ Jed Lowrie hits a sacrifice fly to score teammate Starling Marte during the first inning of a baseball game against the Kansas City Royals, Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021 in Kansas City, Mo. PHILADELPHIA — Jed Lowrie has seen the Oakland A’s at a few different stages during his time with the club.

“I don’t think it’s changed,” Lowrie said in the clubhouse on Saturday. “I’ve been a veteran guy for quite some time now, so I have expectations to perform and help guys out when asked.” The former All-Star re-signed with Oakland late in spring training after hitting .245 with 14 home runs and a .717 OPS with the team last season. Lowrie had previously had two other stints with the A’s, joining the 2013 squad that won the American League West and spending 2013-2014 and 2016-2018 with the franchise.

“Their leadership will be invaluable here,” A’s manager Mark Kotsay said. “They know what it means to be an Oakland Athletic — our culture, the identity of being an A. They’ll help lead that in the clubhouse.”
