Jason Smith, the middle school principal at Stonybrook Intermediate and Middle School in Indianapolis, Indiana, understood that feeling. And that's why it was a no-brainer to jump into action for one of his students, Anthony Moore. Moore was wearing a hat, which is against the school's dress code. After the student spoke with a school dean for about 30 minutes, Smith was asked to step in.
Awesome!
Imagine being the barber who gave him the first haircut

Super. Great principal. We need more like that.
Wonderful human being👏. What empathy can do. Dialling into a teenager's feeling & showing care & understanding. Kudos principal👏
I don't know what to say. But hope the boy love his new haircut. 😏
Good on you sir.
That's good
Aww, wat a nice gesture of the principal. Give me more of these feel good stories please. Haha it restores my faith in humanity for a little bit🌷
Absolutely amazing. THIS should be the top story of February.
Are teachers allowed to define a gender to their pupils now?
That’s special. Things like that get remembered by young men. That is something I read today that made me smile. All this bad news is frustrating sometimes. Good news stories are a treat for me. Yeah, that was cool!
She’s a medical assistant and you putting guns on her face. very cruel, unacceptable, and inhuman. The World Must See This HearTheVoiceOfMyanmar JusticeForMyanmar
Memories to always be remembered!
And then he shared the kids' photo and private embarrassment with the world? Don't yell your good deeds from the street corner.
This is what it’s supposed to be. Children’s behaviour comes from feelings because they don’t have the words yet. We just need to nudge those feelings out so we can help them solve their problems.
I have nothing to speak about
Nice gesture, but it makes one wonder why hats aren't allowed in the first place. Contrary to what some will tell you, they're not distracting. It's a racist rule.
Cool role model for sure. However, am I the only one who thought ‘or just let him where the hat’ LOL In the end, glad he fixed the haircut! 🤷♀️
Wow good job

It's sad that this is the news.
❤️❤️
Kids better respond od encouragement then to punishment
Showing Love and building confidence, Love it!
Can we discuss why schools feel to necessity to ban wearing hats?
Someone who gets it
Saweeeet!
This is why we need representation everywhere and especially in schools. There are so many ways this could have gone differently for this lil boy
A Heartfelt story🤎
Amazing stuff
Great guy
So was this a bad thing? I'm just asking cause the way its phrased is like the teacher was doing something wrong and that he should have disciplined the boy. I was like GJ teach. I wish my teacher had them skills.
You’re a good man
That is a goid nan abd a good principle . Awesome
I’d watch a sitcom about the principal that runs a child barbershop from his office
An inspiration from a great leader.
Lined that boy up.. looking extra fresh😳‼️ yesirrrr
Yall really be reachin for these stories why is this even on fuckin cnn ? When theres real life shit going on
Who cuts his hair? Serious question
Had to hook lil guy up with a crisp line up! Salute
By law ! He cannot touch the boy haircut!!! It’s the law
Now THAT is a Principle 👍🏻👍🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜
❤️
Amazing!
Seriously the school system needs more teachers and principals like him great job helping his students feel more confident about themselves 👏
More good news please(((
🙌🏾🙏🏾💙
I'm confused, kids cant wear hats in class anymore?
This just melts my heart. What an amazing principal to step in and go out of his way to make one student feel special and uplifted. So many are focused on the negative, but my hope is that all of us can look forward and be positive and loving and supportive of one another! 💖
Kindness...we need more of this in our world
Everyone knows hats were responsible for September 11th, the bubonic plague, and the extinction of the dinosaurs. How dare this boy even think about putting such an atrocity on his head
Yep yep, we need to hear more stories like these😍
That is how u handle a problem in grade school.....
Very nice ❤️👏👏👏
Yes. This is what the world needs. Understanding. Empathy. Kindness.
He did this for publicity...who took the pic and who told CNN? If youre doing something from the heart, the world doesnt need to know....unless your motive was praise
❤️
Wasn't a red baseball cap? Principal wear a hat after his brain surgery?
All these comments asking why he can't just wear a hat are blowing my mind. I'm 38, there has never been a time in my life where students were allowed to wear hats during school hours. Is this an uncommon thing
Compassion!
I guess that school was safe to open
I was under the impression that no one anywhere was ever allowed to wear hats in school... but this thread is telling me that’s apparently NOT the case
😇 among us
What a beautiful gesture.
Love this!

Praise God for the Problem solvers
Outstanding Hero! 👏🏿❤️😍❤️👏🏿🙌🏿
Principal should've said to the kid 'LOOK AT ME, SON, I'M BALD'
Why tf should you be disciplined for wearing a hat or hood? What if it’s cold or you’re uncomfortable not wearing it? What could a hat do that’s so bad? 😂
Wonderful principal, I wish we have more if that 🎈✌️
Great story. I appreciate the principals attitude. Never understood why caps are such an issue though. Don't see how wearing a cap is a distraction. If you are a teacher please share your experiences with caps in the classroom. Is it really a problem If so, why?
Humiliating.
Nice to see something good.💗💗💗💗👏👏👏
Awesome. He puts the 'pal' in PrinciPAL.
Class
Excellent. That's an epitome of being an educator.
Way to go.
Can that principle line up a fade?
Thank you 😊
Now THIS is a guy u can invite to the BBQ
The original hairdresser reading how bad of a job he did
What a beautiful story. Kids are awesome humans. And educators are compassionate, dedicated, selfless, and underpaid.
