As many as 60% of the U.S. population is under a winter weather advisory or warning Friday, resulting in canceled flights, overcrowded warming shelters, and blizzard conditions.

All three centers will remain open through noon on Saturday. The issue of homelessness amid freezing temperatures sparked online conversations about how to get more people off the streets in these dangerous conditions.
