Tesla CEO Elon Musk pauses while speaking before unveiling the Model Y at the company's design studio Thursday, March 14, 2019, in Hawthorne, Calif.A judge will hear oral arguments on whether Tesla CEO Elon Musk is in contempt of an Securities and Exchange Commission ruling on April 4.
Musk got in trouble for making false statements on Twitter last year, when he said he had"funding secured" to take Tesla private for $420 per share. He, in reality, did not have funding secured. This latest salvo between the Tesla CEO and the SEC started in February, when Musk tweeted that Tesla would make 500,000 cars in 2019. The company has said in public filings that it would make around 400,000.
A few days later, the SEC demanded that Musk prove that he was not in contempt of court. To bolster the charge that he was, the SEC not only went back to the tweet, but also to an interview Musk did with"60 Minutes" during which he said there was no Twitter czar at Tesla and some"mistakes" may be made.

lopezlinette This lopezlinette is evil 👹
lopezlinette Always worth highlighting that the CEO of Business Insider was *charged* with civil securities fraud and is permanently banned from the securities industry.
lopezlinette Hey Lizette, Tesla's Q4 2018 letters says, 'we are targeting annualized Model 3 output in excess of 500,000 units sometime between Q4 of 2019 and Q2 of 2020'. Why does Business Insider persist in shitting on an American success story? Owned by Big Oil?
lopezlinette Still can’t get musk off your mind. Your pinned tweet should read “Imagine at every moment, all I do s think of Elon Musk and how bad he made me look” You should disclose your ties to short sellers every time you write an article. Would give you a little credibly.
lopezlinette Linette, you redefine the term 'yellow journalism'. Don't hang a man before he's been tried. A real journalist wouldn't call a man a liar when he had clearly given the 500k estimate publicly. Please grow some ethics.
lopezlinette you're a terrible journalist 🤣
lopezlinette Hey lopezlinette, might want to correct the bit about Elon being kicked off Tesla's board. Booted from the chairman role (3 years) for sure, but still very much on the BoD.
lopezlinette He's TOAST!
lopezlinette 'That abuse of his powerful 20 million-person Twitter following to spread false material information got Musk kicked off Tesla's board.' Is it true Musk was kicked off the board entirely? I thought he just had to relinquish the chairmanship.
lopezlinette Whatever elonmusk tweeted regarding 500K estimate for 2019 was already discussed in the earnings call.
lopezlinette I can think of so many people I would rather have our efforts focused on. Like most of the folks running the puppet show in DC.
