The Republicans have expressed concern that companies may not be able to afford paid sick leave for their employees despite the tax credits offered by the federal government.

Eight Republican lawmakers voted against a stimulus bill in the U.S. Senate designed to provide some American workers with paid sick leave.

"I think that the paid sick leave is an incentive for businesses to actually let go employees and will make unemployment worse," Paul, who was also concerned it would further raise the deficit, toldRepublicans have expressed concern that because the proposal would provide workers at companies with less than 500 employees certain benefits—up to two weeks of paid sick leave and up to three months of paid family and medical leave—small and midsized company owners could not afford the...

"[Businesses] may not be around later on," Paul said."They'll either get rid of the workers early on so they don't have to do the paid leave. The other thing is, you've got no income, you've got no taxes you're paying and nothing to claw it back from.

Senator Kevin Cramer expressed similar worries but felt they could make any necessary corrections with more legislation that's soon to follow."The urgency is more important than the objections because in my view, the bill is a good amount of money aimed at the right people," he toldAfter a meeting on Tuesday with Mnuchin, Senate GOP leadership bluntly told members on the fence to vote in favor of it.

That’s Republicans for you.

That’s because it doesn’t affect them and they are insensitive.

ebridgewater1 When will people realize that Republicans care more about $ than people.

But with no one buying and staying home, there is no business!?

valerileist Of. Course. They. Did. GOPCorruptionOverCountry

So then give small businesses assistance too. Obviously.

Newsweek's ignorants losing their shit, don't realize we're all suffering in this together. Always acting on emotion rather than any understanding. Most never even owned a business. Most feeling entitled.

🙄 China is curving the disease because there's NO BS BUREAUCRACY stopping them from getting things done. Every option every bipartisan effort 2 rescue our economy & help our people should be accepted & pass for realDonaldTrump 2 sign. Period

Democrats abortion funding , hiding in the Bill, because of this fool called Pelosi? This lady is so cold blooded, she really doesn’t care about Americans sick or deaths because of Corona, she’s adding non related personal stuff, in a Bill , that should be voted, on separately

tres444 Yeah. That will wipe our small biz out in a heartbeat if we have to pay 2 weeks sick leave for all the folks we let go.

ebridgewater1 It always seems to be the same assholes all the time. It never fails and anyone who voted for the assholes deserve to get the virus.

GOP never seems to care about the common man only about corporate. They seem to think they are elitist that deserve all the benefits, and their constituents deserve none!

We should never vote for any republicans again. They are the party of doom and gloom which will bring society to its knees.

Hey Rand, you're still getting paid aren't you? By us...correct?

Republicans are Traitors

Folks: Maybe time to get off your 'high horse'?

Oh, that pesky bottom line.

Taxpayers awake. These people are paid by our hard earned money and they can ruin us every which way. Vote them all out who only thinks of their bottom line and not represent the citizens!

Screw the businesses. Help the people who really need it.

My goodness, their level of compassion! They will never understand the middle class and surely not the ones below middle class.

Especially those employers getting bailed out, right ?

And the American people are paying you.....

The 5 need to be voted out of office! They’re there to work for the people, not against them. The large corporations they’re protecting will be forced to pay up when clowns like those 5 are removed from out government.

Pathetic

These fools. Out of touch

But that trickle down works, right? I mean it’s what conservatives base all their economic decisions on.
