75% of US school districts report student meal debt. Here's what they're doing to combat the problem.

From college applications to bullying to drills for possible school shootings, students already have enough on their plate without having to worry about affording lunch.

After a Rhode Island school district recently prompted public outcry for giving cold meals to students who hadn't paid for lunches, yogurt company Chobani stepped in to relieve some of the financial pressure. But Warwick Public Schools, which said it cracked down after accumulating $77,000 in lunch debt, was not alone in its predicament. Across the country, this issue keeps popping up.

Bring food from home? I had a brown paper bag for years! But make sure you feed all the illegal aliens that are here against the law first. It's the liberal way.

Why not just call child protective services on the parents

The tax breaks of the 1% should go to school meals. That’ll be enough so no kid will have to starve in schools.

This shouldn't even be a problem

Maybe hold parents responsible for feeding their kids. This seems to be the best solution.

At the most critical period of a child's mental development and physical growth, schools provide reduced meals that amount to no more than a snack? U_S_A U_S_A

School lunch is like $1.50 a day. Maybe instead of buying $200 shoes or the newest iPhone parents should buy their kids lunch

Our school district applied for a grant and they provide free breakfast and lunch to ALL students, regardless of income. That's how it should be. No child should suffer or acquire poor academics because they are worried about paying for school lunch!

A child can't learn if he or she is hungry. For a good portion of students school lunch is the only balanced meal they get. Otherwise it's hot dogs, mac 'n cheese, and pop tarts. Feed the children, They're our future.

Sounds to me like some parents should get a job or a second job if need be.

I’d much rather have my tax dollars go to feeding kids who need it vs. jailed inmates who don’t.

We’re the United States of America. We spend trillions of dollars every year. We can feed the children of the less fortunate. It shouldn’t have to be a discussion.

Almost all serve unhealthy meals, forced upon them by government surplus and donors in the high carb, high sugar, cheap food business. Lunches should be free and local, made in the school with a nutritionist designing a monthly menu. Other nations do this.

Well,Maybe Trump Would Donate Some Of That 100 Million Dollars Of Tax Payers Money He Used On Him Self To Play Golf At His Own Property,For Children Who Have Trouble Paying For A Meal?

My kids school staff instruct us to lie on the application so we can get free meals. She said no one actually verifies the information.
