Allie Sayers's C-section wasn't scheduled until July 13, but she found herself gathering her family to leave for the hospital because she felt the baby was coming two days earlier than expected. As she, her fiance, and their two children were on their way to WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, Sayers insisted they pull over into the gas station parking lot in Shinnston, where the baby ended up being delivered.
Following Waylon's birth, the Shinnston 7-Eleven, 8 miles away from the intended Hospital, changed its marquee to read:"Congrats, it's a boy."7-Eleven is known to give away free slurpees every year on July 11 to commemorate its name.
