53-year-old woman shoots at attempted robbers outside Auburn Walmart

Two armed suspects attempted to rob a woman sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot outside of an Auburn Walmart , located on Outlet Collection Way, on May 28, 2024. A shootout ensued after the woman drew her gun on the suspects. When the suspects — ages 19 and 21 — demanded the woman's "property," she drew a gun and shot at them, according to the Auburn Police Department.

"Within the next couple of hours, there was a K-9 track, we had Guardian One in the area, we had drones up, we had basically all the Valley agencies here," Kolby Crossley with the Auburn Police Department said. "Multiple agencies responded searching for those two suspects, and within the next two hours after the shooting, we had both suspects in custody."

Both suspects have been booked into custody at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent for robbery and assault. The suspects will likely be due in court Wednesday for a first appearance hearing where probable cause is determined and bail may be set.
