Danish toymakers LEGO built a life-size astronaut in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. The effort took 30,000 bricks and more than 300 hours.

As millions around the world watched the first lunar landing attempt, the employees at NASA's mission control center in Houston held their breaths as they closely monitored the descent of the Apollo Lunar Module.

"Our final training run, we exercised those alarms," Kranz told ABC News Senior Transportation Correspondent David Kerley."I always go back and I think what we would have done if we had seen those for the first time." "I think many Americans sometime in their life have driven when the gas gauge in the car reached empty," Kranz said."That was the condition that we were on."

"Roger, Tranquility," CAPCOM said."We copy you on the ground. You've got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We're breathing again. Thanks a lot.”

7NY If man did walk on the moon why haven't they been back up on the moon? Stop lying to the American public stop lying to these kids we did not walk on the moon stop lying to kids.

America, look see what you achieved for the world and mankind 50 years ago. Where is that spirit of leadership, now? Bring it back. Vote out those hate filled toxic politicians. Bring back friendships , national unity and respect and opportunity for ALL . You can do it.

50 years since we landed on the moon.... I thought we would have colonies on Mars by now. :-)

That is so cool!

Legos are awesome! I love that they allow you to create almost anything you can envision ❤️

Was looking for the diversity in the build—did we miss you bruh?

Such an event. Such focus at 50. What went wrong? What stopped man? American nature: do it first in 1969; make better by 1999; open first colony in 2009; dominate the territory by 2019. If true, “where’s the beef?” The lack of focus can’t be ignored.

One small brick for mankind.

50 years of FAKENEWS!

50 years later, and I’m still having problems with getting my TV to work. Thanks, optimum! Worst service ever.

I remember. I was 9. It was the coolest thing I’d ever seen.

Unfortunately this is exclusive to Caucasians only, any other races will be unwelcome when they get settled there or wherever.

dewlanna

I would buy this Lego kit. No i wouldn't - it'd cost a fotune.

I remember watching the moon landing on a television at Little America in Cheyenne, Wyoming on our way across the country on vacation.

Remember it well. Truly was a historic time, back when families actually sat around their television sets as families and spent time together, not glued to their electronic devices.

waste of time

I saw it live the first time. Just saying.

I just love LEGO

😮

I'm so happy they charge ridiculous amounts of money for Legos so they can pay people to this.
