Celebrating its 50th anniversary this month, the 1969 moon landing fortified Americans’ confidence at a time of despair and encouraged Americans to dream again.

On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from Florida. Former President Johnson, center, with his wife, Lady Bird, left, and Vice President Spiro Agnew, right, were among the onlookers that NASA had invited to witness the start of the moon mission.

I think that this great achievement will not stop resonating even when the first step on Mars is taken. Although there are Russians who are annoyed by the loss, who will say that it was as easy as watering the lawn in front of the house. This is their mentality.
