“Talk about a team win,” 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said after the victory, the first for his team at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field since 2011.With the win the 49ers have a first-round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs while the fifth-seeded Seahawks take a trip to Philadelphia to play the fourth-seeded Eagles in a wild-card game on Sunday.Earlier in the day the Patriots were upset by the lowly Dolphins in a loss that cost them a first-round bye.
“We didn’t play the way we’re capable of playing and it ended up costing us,” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said. “Just too many bad mistakes.” Elsewhere in the NFC, North division champions Green Bay needed a last-second field goal to wrap up a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed with a 23-20 win over the Detroit Lions.
The Kansas City Chiefs claimed the AFC’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye by beating the Los Angeles Chargers 31-21.
