4 people injured in suspected DUI crash in Renton

The 21-year-old driver who police believe was driving under the influence drove his blue pickup truck into a parked vehicle. The accident took place Sunday night in the 1700 block of Union Ave NE. Witnesses said they saw the driver speeding and swerving southbound on Union Avenue when he hit a parked vehicle, police said. The parked vehicle had a family of three in it.

All three family members had non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital, according to RPD. The driver of the pickup was unconscious and was also transported to the hospital. According to a Tweet by RPD, officers smelled a “heavy odor of intoxicants in the suspect’s vehicle.” Officers applied for a warrant to take a blood sample and determine if the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.RPD said collision investigators will be able to determine how far the parked vehicle was moved when it was hit. Before an investigation has been conducted they said they "estimate the car was shoved about 100 feet.
