Here are some tips from AAA to help with fuel efficiency:Map your route to minimize unnecessary turnarounds or backtracking.Use “fast pass” or “express” toll lanes to avoid unnecessary stops or slowdowns on the highway.
Reducing highway speeds by 5-10 mph can increase fuel economy by as much as 14%, as fuel economy peaks at around 50 mph on most cars.

I can’t believe that $4 a gallon is the decision point. At my corner Chevron gas station premium is now $6.49 a gallon. I don’t think $4 is the benchmark unless you drive an old clunker and have to drive lots of miles. I haven’t heard of anyone yet switching to carpools
