CLEVELAND, Ohio - April 8 marks one of the biggest ‘unofficial’ holidays for Clevelanders: the 2024 Home Opener for the Guardians. Here is a guide to what you need to know for the ‘old ball game’.
Former Guardians Corey Kluber and Michael Brantley, both members of the 2016 American League Championship team, will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch. Both announced their retirements from the MLB this off-season.The Guardians will be able to check out some of the improvements come Opening Day for ‘Progressive Field Reimagined’, which is set to be completed for Opening Day 2025.
Meanwhile, the team store’s normal location is closed due to the renovations. A temporary store will be located in Gateway Plaza, outside of the left field gate.The Guardians are bringing seven new food items to Progressive Field for this year: Chicken Bacon Ranch Fries: Crispy french fries served with diced chicken, crumbled bacon and drizzled with ranch dressing along with yellow queso.
