The new Honda Accord sedan gets some surprising things wrong.

, start at the bottom. The base LX and next-step EX models come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission . Fuel economy comes out about even compared to last year's car and remains respectable at 29/37/32 mpg city/highway/combined.

Elsewhere inside, the slightly upscale take on the already good Civic interior is a win, though we think it would feel like a bigger win had Honda launched the new design language on a more expensive car like this first so we didn't automatically associate it with the least expensive car on the lot. At least the Accord gets an all-digital instrument cluster across the lineup.

Move up the trim levels, and it's a more mixed bag. Hybrid fuel economy is up slightly across the board, and that's the best thing we can say about the powertrain that will power the majority of new Accords. This is part of a broader issue with Honda's no-options trim structure. All the handiest amenities are locked up in the highest trim levels. The Google features, along with the wireless phone charger, Bose stereo, parking sensors, head-up display, front seat coolers, and rear seat heaters are all only available on the most expensive Touring trim. Front seat heaters and rear seat USB-C power points are at least included on midrange models, but if you want all the goodies, you better pay up.

I thought that was a VW

:(

VW would like a word…

Is it just me, or have the recent Accords just been designed with no ass? Side profile looks like a girl with no ass. Front grill isnt awful, but looks very plain. Would love to see them go 91 retro look with a fuller body, but subtle grill look instead of the ugly toothy stuff.

I can’t remember the last time Motor Trend gave a negative review 😳
