Roughly 20 million people watched live coverage of the Jan. 6th committee hearing on Thursday — way more than the first day of either of Trump’s impeachment trials.

While coverage varied by network, Nielsen said the hearing aired across 12 networks in total between 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET.

ABC drew the largest audience by far, with 5.2 million viewers, followed by NBC , MSNBC , CBS , CNN and Fox Business Network . Outside of the main cable and broadcast networks, the event was also aired on NBC LX, PBS, CNBC, CNNe, Newsmax and NewsNation. The figures from Nielsen included viewership from TVs outside of living rooms in places like bars and restaurants, as well as digital TVs. But they didn't include digital viewership or ratings from PBS.Fox News did not air the hearing on Fox News Channel, and instead kept its primetime lineup during the 8 p.m.-10 p.m. ET hours. But it did air the hearing on Fox Business Network and across local affiliates.Fox New Channel still drew 3.

Hmm funny. I saw that all the networks that carried lost viewers that night.

I guess it's not newsworthy that Fox aired Carlson's shows without commercials...? I wonder how many times that has ever happened. Likely there hasn't been many times Fox has been that scared about it's viewers possibly changing the channel and hearing some truth.

That’s across like 8 networks. It was a ratings bust.

No matter how you try to manipulate the stats that is a small number. 11 networks carried this during prime time.

same number as the Kavanaugh hearings, lol

Great... But there 320 mil.folks.

Or any apprentice episode ever made

What You I'd expect way more of the 81million Biden voters would've tuned in...or maybe they don't exist...or maybe the didn't pay the 2000 Mules enough.

They spent 2 hours telling us everything we already knew.

Musk wants to know how many of those viewers were bots.

It was kind of hard to miss since every channel except FOX was airing it.

Mostly airports and train station s

🇺🇸 America is watching 👁️ Thanks to Officer Edwards & Mr. Quested for their powerful testimony. And the fantastic presentation by the January6thCmte JusticeMatters

You're counting all the tv's in nursing homes left on after hours. Same ones whose votes were cast for them in 2020.

Well, this is something. I'm surprised 20 million ppl still watch TV.

Was the impeachment trial on ota broadcast?

We will watch the entire hearing since FOX won’t show it!

That's one way to spin it shitlibs 🤣🤣🤣

and they also watch the Kardashians.

Embarrassing AF that people with no life would watch that

Less than watched Kavanaugh hearing, which was day time.

You could actually hear the snoring out in the street.

No one cares

U.S. TV audience for Jan. 6 hearing reaches 20 million(Reuters) -An estimated 20 million people tuned in to live U.S. television broadcasts of Thursday's hearing by lawmakers probing the 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, the Nielsen ratings agency said on Friday. The viewership across 12 networks ranked below other political events such as President Biden's State of the Union address, which pulled in 38 million viewers in March, but higher than most congressional hearings. The first televised hearing of the impeachment inquiry into U.S. President Donald Trump, for example, attracted about 14 million viewers on 10 networks in 2019. Lock up the head guru and our country can get back to normal When you are on all 3 major networks and 2 out of 3 cable news channels. 20 million is a bomb Half as many viewers than these networks would have had if they had kept their regular schedule. And to think, they have 6 more of these clown shows coming.

Critic’s Notebook: The Jan. 6 Committee Hearings Are Must-See TVCompelling evidence, dramatic testimony and harrowing footage permeated the opening night of what has the potential to be the essential TV event of the summer. Someone should be put in jail for this headline. Partisan playground from the Dems and two turncoat Rhinos. Much could have been done for security that day and demonstrations would have been peaceful. You should ignore this idiocy. Funny that’s the same thing Hollywood says. Must be why the democrat committee hired a Hollywood producer from ABC.
