Two New Jersey track and field legends returned to Franklin Field for this year’s Penn Relays, competing in the women’s Olympic Development 800-meter run on Saturday afternoon.
The two-time olympian won the gold in the 800 at the World Junior Championships back in 2012, took home the World Indoor title in the event in 2022 and won the Diamond League title as well in 2019. “I feel like the year has gone by fast and it’s already almost May,” Wilson said. “I’ll know where I need to be to get ready and be prepared for trials and hopefully make that team.
“It was hard getting through this past season,” Wilson said. “I’ve never not made a team before so being home watching the champs was a different experience, but it was a little bit easier to deal with knowing that even if I was there I wouldn’t have been at my best just based on where I was at in the season, so that was a little bit of a consolation.
