The Latest: 29 killed in attack in Afghanistan's KabulKABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Latest on the attack in Kabul (all times local): 11:55 p.m. Interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish says a brazen hours-long coordinated assault on a government building in the Afghan Capital of Kabul Monday has killed 29 people, most of them were employees of the department for martyrs and disabled persons. Another 23 people were wounded, including three policemen, he added. The assault began with a suicide bomber who blew up his explosives-laden car in front of the multi-story building in an eastern neighborhood of Kabul. Within minutes of the powerful explosion three gunmen, armed with assault rifles and explosive devises, stormed the building. (AP) — The Latest on the resolved hostage situation at UPS facility (all times local): 5:10 p.m. New Jersey's attorney general says the armed man who burst into a UPS facility and took two female workers hostage was shot and killed by police after he exited the building with both women. Gurbir S. Grewal's office says in a statement the man has been identified as 39-year-old William Owens, of Sicklerville, New Jersey. He says officers responded to the supply chain processing facility in Logan Township, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Philadelphia, around 8:45 a.m. Monday over reports of a man with a gun. He says multiple members of law enforcement fired at the man when he exited the building with the women.
