There will be suspense as the final envelope is opened on Sunday, but both '1917' and 'Parasite' deserve the most important honor in the film industry — for different reasons.

Fresh off wins from the Producers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America, and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts,"1917" has the momentum.

"It's a timely movie with a political message about class, but it’s also a crowd-pleaser," said Joyce Eng, senior editor at Gold Derby, an awards season news site."It’s universal in a way that 'Roma' last year was not." "Right from the moment it premiered at Cannes, there was no doubt that it was a special movie," said Ira Deutchman, an independent producer and professor at Columbia Film School."By the time the film showed in Toronto, the word of mouth was already incredible."

I big 'no thanks' to both films. Why must we continue to suffer through violent films?

Haven’t seen Parasite, but I don’t think a foreign film should be in the Best Picture category and Best Foreign Film.

I hate to desire to see either one but for every story I see with Parasite in it, I think of this.

Oh-My-God-OmniabsoluteGRAVITATIONAL-CONSTANT: Here we go again a network like 'NBC' with an opinion. An 'OPINION' is just like a 'mouth' bc everyone has one. Welcome to the influence of the MEDIAS. So my opinion is, on second thought I just be quiet bc it hasn't any INFLUENCE?

I watched PARASITE without knowing anything about it. It is a work of art. It really is. I see why it's in the running. The war film will probably win just because Boomers can get their heads around that better, I think. Parasite = more GenX or Millenial audience.

Says ... who exactly?

Parasite needs to go all the way. It will be a statement of whether we know the problems today exist, or not....

Both were excellent films. 1917 achieved technical accomplishments that should earn it the Best Picture academy.

That was one weird show, started out slow but built to a warped form of life, one we could all encounter born in the wrong place and time.

1917 will win because white
