The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. Friday in a field near the intersection of South Hayesmount Road and East Jewell Avenue, according to the The victim, a 17-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said. Police have not arrested anyone in connection to the shooting, but they said investigators do not believe there is a danger to the public.
