A range of thinkers on the future of abortion post-Roe in America — and how that will affect everything else

is an overall blow to women’s rights and autonomy, one of its unfortunate outcomes is how it will significantly worsen Black women’s social and health conditions in the United States.

Joanne Kenen, Politico’s former executive health care editor, is the Commonwealth Fund journalist in residence at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.enetic testing and prenatal screening have given expectant parents powerful tools and knowledge. Access to legal abortions has also meant that those expectant parents can use that information — which can inform them of a severe fetal health problem — to decide whether to carry the pregnancy to term.

The decision will ‘exacerbate the partisan and regional division on abortion that is already in place.’Defenders of the Unborn: The Pro-Life Movement before Roe v. Wade.will probably confirm and exacerbate existing trends rather than substantially change them. If these trends continue for the next decade, regional variations in abortion policy will merely be exaggerated versions of those that we already see today.

If the new restrictive abortion laws in conservative states will be nearly powerless to stop legal abortions even in those regions , the reversal ofwill not have the effects that either the anti-abortion or reproductive rights movements have anticipated. It will not substantially reduce the number of legal abortions.

I disagree abortions have not been banned ......this statement is only half true and misleading .....what's changed is we no longer have to pay for their abortions with our TAX dollars .

Don’t tell me what you will do, show me what you will do. If you believe any Red state will expand the safety net to help women with children, then want some of what you are smoking. All I have seen so far is refusal to expand Medicaid and food stamps. Republicans help? Ha!

It’s ALL BULL SH*T! LEGAL ABORTIONS ARE NOT ELIMINATED!

Wow the media's '17 ways the SCOTUS changed America' and they don't even mention the stripping away of the constitutional right to privacy or the direct attack on due process. 🤷

The abolition of abortion should go hand in hand with expanded Medicare for women and children. If the government expects to have a say in women’s healthcare then they should pay for women’s healthcare. Can we have the hypocrisy vote on record before November?

Can you tell these contributors that Roe was a human, not a court ruling. They’re depersonalizing her into a thing. The ruling is “Roe v. Wade”, not “Roe”.

This is just stupid. The vast majority of the states have laws and abortions rights. And the ones that don’t have provisions for mothers health/endangerment etc.

just the beginning , Thomas , gave a us a hint at whats next , Sanctity of Marriage .....

Correct, why will black women be most impacted? Because the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, founded the org with the specific plan to control the black population. An easy to find truth and a fact that cannot be refuted with any amount of sophistry.

Please let's don't.

So many more lives will be brought into this world and it's beautiful

Maybe now originalism will be recognized for the horror it is.

Abortion is still legal in most of America.

'THE REPUBLICAN DREAM' Let's go back now to those glorious days of Republican/Conservative Supreme Court yesteryear, when women were obedient, persons of color were subservient, homosexuality was outlawed and only white men could vote.
