The beauty of this book is in the quietly intricate plot and the lovely dialogue, but also in how real the settings are. McQuiston, a feat in and of itself, and brings to life Pancake Billy’s House of Pancakes, the diner that serves as a character as well as a location. Between shifts at the diner, legendary Su Special sandwiches, late-night drag brunch fundraisers, and the queer community at the heart of it all, this novel keeps food at the center of a stunning love story.
