SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Even though Will Trent season 2 only had ten episodes to work with, the writers created a complete, intriguing story that perfectly sets up the events of season 3. The ABC crime drama is based on Karin Slaughter's Will Trent book series and centers around the eponymous GBI agent, focusing on his expert investigative skills and the trauma he endured from his past in foster care.

Although Cricket's death happened at the beginning of Will Trent season 2, her death still severely affected Will and added to his piles of trauma. Watching her die will likely continue to haunt him when season 3 premieres in 2025 . 8 Will Meeting His Uncle & Visiting Puerto Rico For The First Time Will Trent Season 2, Episode 6 & Episode 9 Close After learning his mother's identity in Will Trent season 1, Will wanted to know more about where he came from. When Will saw him in prison, James Ulster told the GBI agent that his uncle was Antonio Miranda, but Will was hesitant to reach out to him because he was afraid of rejection.

Faith is finally ready to be with Luke completely, and their romance will undoubtedly cross over into Will Trent season 3. Will formed a strong bond with one of his foster mothers, Anna, when he was a kid, but the dad, Jack, was a complete deadbeat who abused his wife. One night, Will wanted to protect Anna, so he got Jack's gun and shot him in the arm. The older man wrestled the weapon away from Will, beat him with it, and was about to shoot him when Anna stopped him. Sadly, that led to Jack shooting and killing Anna, and Will felt so much guilt over her death that his mind forced him to repress the memory.

Although Ormewood experienced terrific character development in Will Trent season 2 and was, by all means, a good dad, Gina still wanted a divorce when she returned in the finale. While divorce was certainly for the best, given their history, Gina then dropped the shocking bomb — she was moving away and going to seek full custody of the kids.

The Will Trent writers love to bring past mistakes back around, even seasons later, so, Amanda's bad deed may come back to haunt her in season 3.
