One man was killed and another person seriously injured in a crash early Friday on Route 206 in Southampton Township, authorities said. A GMC Silverado traveling southbound on Route 206 crossed the centerline in the area of milepost 18.3 and entered the northbound lanes, striking a Jeep Patriot at around 6:13 a.m., a spokesperson for New Jersey State Police said in a statement.
Daryl Akers Jr., 62, of Bridgeton, was driving the northbound Jeep at the time. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, state police said. As a result of the crash, the driver of the GMC sustained serious injuries and was taken by air to a local hospital, officials said Friday night.Thank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust.
