Theresa Seiger, Cox Media Group National Content DeskKANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police said they were responding Wednesday afternoon to reports of shots fired around Union Station. The Kansas City Fire Department“Shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage and multiple people were struck,” police said. “We took two armed people into custody for more investigation.
Lopez-Galvan was co-host of the program “Taste of Tejano” featuring Hispanic music, according to the newspaper.. “Anyone could ‘get away’ mentally while listening to their favorite genre; music can also be a form of therapy for some.”Kansas City police Chief Stacey Graves said during an early evening news conference that in addition to one person being killed, 21 people suffered gunshot wounds.
“Today was tragic for everyone who was a part of it,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said. “I had the chance to talk to my wife just a moment ago, who said ‘we became part of a statistic of too many Americans: those who have experienced or been part of or connected to a mass shooting.’ That is something that I hope we all recognize is highly problematic for all of us.
Lucas added that he was “as heartbroken as anybody” about the shooting that killed at least one person and hurt “upwards of 10 to 15.”
