More than a million people demonstrated against a controversial bill that would allow China to extradite fugitives from Hong Kong, according to protest organizers

Hong Kong More than 1 million protesters took to the streets of Hong Kong Sunday, organizers said, to oppose a controversial extradition bill that would enable China to extradite fugitives from the city, in what would be the largest demonstration since the city's handover to China in 1997.

Civil Human Rights Front, the group that organized the protests, said more than 1.3 million people marched -- a figure that accounts for more than one in six of the city's 7.48 million-strong population. Hong Kong Police projected the number of protesters at closer to 240,000.

— Kristie Lu Stout✌🏽 June 9, 2019 However, Taipei has already said it will refuse to cooperate with the new law if it puts Taiwanese citizens at risk of being extradited to China. The self-ruled island has previously seen citizens accused of crimes in countries that do not recognize Taiwan diplomatically being handed to Chinese custody, despite objections of Taipei.Earlier this week, Chris Patten, the last British governor of Hong Kong, slammed the bill.

香港人,真可怜,也是活该,这就是殖民留下的种子

Very sad

这些抗议的人是怎么想的?有利于什么?

Why are they protect against a law which can protect them from felony criminals? Just worried about them selves could be extracted to mainland? Don't break the law and you shouldn't be worried.

China was at its best in the past when Zhang Zhetsu, a democratic country, was the Republic of China. At that time there was a concept. Ideology is the same race, but when communist socialism changes its system, it becomes a completely different country.

Regardless of if they done anything wrong or not that's great

China is relentless. Protesters are irrelevant to the Communist machine.

Knowing China's brutality & horrible human rights record the fears of the people of Hong Kong is understandable.

The crowds were so massive that droves of protestors found themselves marooned in subway stations.

低智商民粹主义横扫全世界,真是喜闻乐见

Meanwhile, all of their faces are being scanned.

Google wants to help China track down people. So does Facebook and Twitter. Wouldn't put it past CNN to be helping China, given they regularly dox people to harass them and threaten legal action.

希望游行的人看完过这个条例,并清楚这个条例对犯罪的人是极大的威慑,对守法的人是更好的保护。

What did they think the Communist would do eventually? A bit late - time for this battle was 20 yrs ago

Yes, this is communism

Hope the budding socialist wannabes in America are paying close attention.
