Young schoolboy, 9, found dead in woods as cops probe heartbreaking discovery...

A BOY aged nine has died in woods close to his home as cops launched a probe into the heartbreaking discovery.

The tragic youngster was pronounced dead on Sunday evening in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, shortly after mercy crews rushed to the scene.Officers investigating the circumstances around the schoolboy’s devastating loss say his passing is not being treated as suspicious.The lad, a pupil at Woodpark Primary, was discovered just before 7pm in a secluded wooded area close to Abbeygreen Road in the town.

Headteacher Debbie MacKenna yesterday issued a letter to parents expressing “with great sadness” news of his death and said their thoughts and prayers were with his family.“Staff and pupils were informed today.“Please be assured that we have made arrangements to support those children most directly affected and we will continue to provide support from staff in school assisted by psychological services.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of one of our pupils on Sunday... We are aware some children will be more affected than others“Enquiries are ongoing but there are no suspicious circumstances.
