Theatre audiences are used to being warned about nudity and violence when booking tickets, as well as strobe lighting, flashing lights and characters smoking a cigarette.
I find this completely irritating. Where does this start and where does this end? In case of the „Magic flute“ should you warn people, that a snake is being killed and that birds are held in cages? Or should people be warned if in a play two gay men kiss each other? Ridiculous.

Horrifying and needless self-censorship 50 years after theatre was freed from the Lord Chamberlain’s straightjacket. Why ruin the storytelling in advance? Why lessen the impact? Surely offence or delight are equally important.
