He sought to illuminate an inequality which normally is a good thing but not when it’s one with a purpose like trusted sources earning it Long before that the criteria for verification was just having more than 500 followers and verification of your identity. Then it became an elitist thing, handed only to those select few, and bedlgrudgingly to others to prevent scamming. ID requirement will return I'm sure.
