'You haven’t got time to mess around' - Shearer gives verdict on Mainoo

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has said Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo should 'definitely' be included in the England squad for the European Championship in Germany this summer.

Deployed in midfield alongside Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, the youngster excelled, putting himself in the frame to potentially complete England's strongest midfield for the upcoming tournament. "Mainoo definitely, considering that this season he's been unbelievable," Shearer told The Athletic, participating in a Q&A about who should make the England squad. "What a story, given where he was last summer to where he is now. "I think Gordon has taken his , he impressed on Saturday , and Mainoo is another. With Toney, I thought he did well — he was given an opportunity and took it."
