More than 300,000 tonnes of clothing end up in landfill every year in the UK

Camden Town Brewery will be giving free beers to anyone who donates their old clothes at the Trafford Centre. The brewer has been touring the UK with leading waste charity TRAID to encourage more sustainable shopping habits by the public this winter.

According to Camden Town Brewery and TRAID, more than 300,000 tonnes of clothing end up in landfill every year in the UK, and it is estimated that 40 per cent is in a reusable condition. TRAID’s research has also found that there are 1.6 billion pieces of unworn clothing in UK wardrobes.Jose Baladron, TRAID’s recycling development manager, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Camden Town Brewery to keep clothes in use for longer.
