BREAKING: Railway workers are to stage a series of 48-hour strikes. Strikes are due on: 🚂 December 13th 🚂 December 14th 🚂 December 16th 🚂 December 17th 🚂 January 3rd 🚂 January 4th 🚂 January 6th 🚂 January 7th

Railway workers are to stage a series of 48-hour strikes in December andMass walk-outs have been planned as part of the long-running dispute over pay, jobs and conditions, the RMT union announced.

Strikes are due on December 13, 14, 16 and December 17, potentially impacting those looking to travel home before Christmas. There will also be an overtime ban across the railways from December 18 until January 2, meaning RMT be taking industrial action for four weeks in total. RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: ‘This latest round of strikes will show how important our members are to the running of this country and will send a clear message that we want a good deal on job security, pay and conditions for our people.

‘Our message to the public is we are sorry to inconvenience you, but we urge you to direct your anger and frustration at the government and railway employers during this latest phase of action. ‘We call upon all trades unionists in Britain to take a stand and fight for better pay and conditions in their respective industries. And we will seek to coordinate strike action and demonstrations where we can.’Mr Lynch added: ‘Working people across our class need a pay rise and we are determined to win that for our members in RMT.

Sick to death of these strikes. People need to get to work 🤬

Just imagine everyone getting a 10% increase in wages the cost of living would go up so much everyone would be worse off I think everyone should be grateful we are not getting bombed

The most expensive trains in the world and we can't even get one. I have no sympathy for the strikers. They knew the wage when taking the job. Get back to work. My 25 minute journey takes 2 hours now. Clownshow.

Trains are always delayed, always full, so you have to stand stacked like sardines for hours. The tickets are overpriced, and the service is getting worse and worse. And the poor railway workers have horrible working conditions. De-privatisation is the only way

basicbrowngal This makes me sad for the inconvenience its gonna cause but really I'd be more mad for the workers being treated unfairly. They deserve better and so does the rest of this country

SOLIDARITY TO THE STRIKERS campaigning for a better quality of life is way more important than a couple weeks of inconvenience - they should even amp things up!

Louis_Tomlinson LTHQOfficial iicf_rry why on the days I’m meant to be seeing Louis

Punish the Common folk… nothing will change except more losses and less money. And Xmas misery for people who rely on transport. Pointless. railstrikes

Weekend of work Xmas party in London…from Birmingham great

Aylaazari my love see o😫

If they lose, everyone loses. What’s to stop your own boss from changing the terms of your own employment contract? Workers need to challenge this injustice.

Save your money and support Ukraine!! 👊🏻👊🏻

Lovely 😮‍💨

Time to buy a car.

Nothing new. They do this every year and have done for many years. It's almost premeditated around the festive period. Pathetic.

Out where I live there is no service at all on strike days. I do a job I can't do from home. It is making it incredibly difficult for me to get into work and not on time. This is hitting low paid workers in rural areas.

This country is getting railed - literally.

Biden lied AGAIN!!!!! BidenLied

Greedy people they get paid more it’s insane

Scum. Nationalise the trains and get rid of the lot of them.

Planning to see my son in Lincoln 16th for an overnight stay as I’m working Xmas in my less than 10 pound an hr care job . If these rail strikes stop tht it will break my heart

WFH🥳

Good for them

Nobody’s going nowhere man 😭

Just put the railway back under public control, this privatisation is destroying all the vital infrastructure

It’s back to the coaches I’m afraid!?!

As it takes up to 48 hours for services to return to normal. In effect, it's two 6 day strikes.

Everyone taking their fingers typing about Christmas lol… if you need to travel from 13th december to reach somewhere for the 24t.. . Then please consider taking a ✈️ spare us the bullshit bot stories.

Merry Christmas from RMT. 🤬

Automation is the way forward.

A necessary evil. The Tory vermin will have to back down eventually.

it would be nice for somebody to tell us if ANY trains are running on those days? my sister is due to come home to the south west from york for christmas on the 17th and has no idea if her train home is running,

16th? I beg

Spoil Christmas plans. For anyone proposing backlash, I’m a uni student. Like most UK students, I’ll be going home (or, at least I was planning to). I have family living elsewhere in the country, including my grandma who has really bad dementia. I already had my tickets booked 🤬

Well time to clog the roads then.

Up the workers

Humbug.
