Give thanks to the gods of streaming: Sex Education, one of our favourite comedies of recent years, has been confirmed for a third series. Meaning that we'll be heading back to Moordale, where we. can expect plenty more innuendo, hard-hitting storylines and, best of all, Gillian Anderson.
On February 10th, Netflix confirmed what we had been hoping for ever since the second season was released in January: a third, follow-up season has been greenest, and will go into production this year. Headmaster Groff, played by actor Alistair Petrie, made the announcement in typical fashion: We are more than a little relieved: in the fickle world of television, there's no such thing as a guarantee. But it did look like a safe bet. The series finale saw Otis and Maeve's friendship face something of a hurdle, as Otis - played by Asa Butterfeld - resolved to tell Maeve how he felt about her, only to have his hopes potentially dashed by a deleted voicemail.
The second series followed the trials and tribulations of Otis and Maeve, as well as series favourites Otis and Amy. Netflix is yet to announce the release date of the third series, but hopefully we won't have too long to wait. Series creator Laurie Nunn had, until now, stayed quiet on a third series. 'We won't find out until aftertwo lands on the platform,' she told The Hollywood Reporter in January. 'But I think these characters ... they've got legs. I think I could do some more with them if we're given the chance.'
