One of the internet's most famous dog, Kabosu, has died at the age of 18. The Shiba Inu, who was the face of the popular Doge meme and later the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, sadly passed away on Friday, May 24, after suffering from leukaemia and liver disease.
"Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu all these years" Sato continued, reports the Daily Star. "I am certain Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world. That makes me the happiest owner in the world. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has sent us much love to us." Kabosu was born in 2005 and was rescued from a shelter in 2008. She became an internet sensation in 2013 when a photo of her was posted on Reddit in which she appeared to be smirking with her paws crossed, this was then dubbed 'Doge" and the meme was born.
