Sale of coal and wet wood restricted in England

Wet - also known as green or unseasoned wood - is often sold in nets and is cheaper to buy.

This marks the latest step in the government's Clean Air Strategy, says environment minister Rebecca Pow. The move was welcomed by Harriet Edwards, the senior air quality policy adviser for Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation. "It can put them at risk of suffering potentially life-threatening asthma attacks or flare-up," she said.

not allowed to replace gas/oil boilers soon either. Air heat extraction pumps required instead, at mere £20k installation cost. But fortunately the last year has made people accustomed to accepting rotten deals, so why not another?

Its only in winter, you never here them mention barbecues in the summer.

And the govt has the cheek to defend air travel and we have Chelsea tractors in big cities where they are definitely not needed. Don’t want us to use wood or coal as energy companies probably scared of losing profits

Whatever we’ve two log burners wet logs don’t burn and nobody who has a log burner burns wet logs! Ridiculous is the word

I burn wood in my stove. Most people that do this know the wood should be seasoned. This government are just paying lip service to being eco friendly.

People will just go over the borders to Wales or Scotland to get their wood and coal then.

So we need wood kilns now then ffs store wood for a year under cover its then dry not sodding rocket science

Anyone who burns wet/green wood is a nugget. The drier the wood the more efficient the energy output, so it’s in the stove users interest to source properly dried wood. Wet/green wood doesn’t produce a decent fire.

I guess the only reason people buy wet wood is if it's cheaper - I can't see the going rate however. Is it much cheaper?

the homeopathic solution to air pollution

Dear government, FUCKING . LEAVE . US . ALONE ...

Got bastard Jackdaws nesting in my chimney pot so couldn't burn wet wood even if I wanted to 🙄

It's a step in the right direction but only a very small one. The air pollution problem won't be fully solved for hundreds of years
