The governing body has made it clear the men’s game will always come first, but inspiration lies across the Atlantic

Less than a year after England reached a World Cup semi-final watched by 11.7 million people and a new season got under way in front of 31,213 fans at the Etihad Stadium, we are facing more than six months without professional women’s football in England.

SuzyWrack This is a brilliant article, I have been saying this for a while. People assume I am dismissive of women's football, I'm not. I just don't want it to fall into the problems as years ago, where it is reliant on funds that can be withdrawn at any time.

You mean the FA that’s been funding your clubs and letting you use top stadiums and facilities? Be careful what you wish for, if the fan base isn’t there whose going to prop up the women’s game?
