Along with before and after photos, Rowan Kate Cardus posted in the DIY on a Budget Facebook group: ‘Thoughts please. It was £0.42p a book for a copper leaf from AliExpress which took three weeks to arrive.
‘I put normal artist acrylic paint on first then used gilding size to stick on the leaf and then used yacht varnish to seal the end result.The end result is pretty glorious, right? Just the application of copper leaf takes the bath from bog-standard to a tub that looks like it belongs in a boutique hotel.
The project has received a load of comments from members of the group, calling the transformation ‘amazing’ and ‘beautiful’. We’d have to agree.Rowan said she followed YouTube tutorials for the application of the copper leaf, but it’s a pretty simple technique that anyone can do.
