Woman spiked in bar shares chilling pic of her in hospital bed fearing for life
Shaken Kirsty Howells says she is now too anxious to go out drinking with friends after being rushed to hospital as the the rise in reports of people being targeted in bars continues
Kirsty Howells went from dancing with her friends on a night out in Swansea, south Wales, to being found laying face-down unresponsive on a table outside the venue. The 25-year-old later suffered a seizure and had to be rushed to A&E, WalesOnline report.
She said she was "very shaken'' and is now too anxious to go out drinking as she highlights the rise in reports of people being targeted with spiked drinks and harmful substances.Miss Howells is devastated after being told there is little that can be done to track down whoever drugged her and says her "stomach churns" whenever she thinks of what might have happened had she not received help.
She has recovered physically from the incident and wants more done to catch the culprits who are putting women's lives at risk.Concerns over an increase in the number of drink-spiking and injection cases during nights out in the UK have been on the rise this month, with students in a number of university towns reporting attacks. headtopics.com
Uploading the photo to Facebook, she gave her account of a harrowing evening. It is the latest in what appears to be an ongoing epidemic of spiking in nightclubs across the country. She said: "I didn't drink much that night, maybe four drinks in total and I felt completely fine. I can remember everything up until around 12:30am, and everything after that is completely blank."
"When I woke up the next day I was very shaken and my anxiety was so bad because I couldn't remember a thing that went on. I honestly can't imagine what someone's intentions would have been had I not had the help and support that I did and that is what scares me the most.
"My stomach churns just thinking about it, and to think I was one of the lucky ones is even more terrifying. I'm not a big drinker at the best of times, I'm usually the friend who prefers to drive if I go out."It was hard to hear that there's nothing they could really do about finding out who did it. I understand that it's difficult to pinpoint people, but had it been a worse case scenario for me I'm sure everything would have been done to find the person responsible.
