Woman, 81, killed herself after pension was frozen in error

An 81-year-old woman killed herself after running out of money when her pension was frozen due to an administrative error.

Shocking .. there needs to be some consequence for this ‘administrative error’. Unreserved Apology counts for nothing

It’s also sad that she didn’t tell her family, who may have been able to help her, instead of resorting to suicide. I don’t understand why the elderly are so fearful of ‘bothering’ others. My grandma is the same. Shame on DWP as well, for not dealing with the error better.

This was a wrongful death. Whoever made this decision about her pension should be prosecuted & imprisoned. Then prosecute and imprison all of the current Tory government, as the sociopathic fuks they are, and those in the media that enable them, which includes 3 Guardian writers

I hope her death would haunt the people who made the error. I mean a woman killed herself! So tragic and very sad.

She didn't kill herself. It's state murder. In the same way the British state has driven so many people to their deaths.

A person who is five minutes late for an appointment with DWP can lose their income for six months while DWP can (and does) make all kinds of errors without consequence. The system is broken
